Scissors lift tables lifted into place

# Domes

schedule 2017-07-20
Matthew Lehner

As mentioned in the previous post, the crane company sent up a crane that was too small to install the domes. Instead we lifted the scissors lift tables up to the observing floor on all three enclosures. The installation is not complete, since we still need to bolt the tables down and install the hydraulics. This will be done after the domes are installed.

Installation at Site #1:

Lifting hydraulics.

Lifting hydraulics.

Beginning to lift scissors lift table.

Scissors lift table coming into observing chamber.

As mentioned, crane was too small to reach center of enclosure. This is as close as we could get it.

Lift table hanging from crane. It is supposed to go in the hole in the floor.

It took six people to pull the table over to the center, but we got it there. It is now in place.

Installation at Site #2:

View through the hole in the floor. It will be nice to get these filled in (that's a 40 foot drop)!

Strapping up the lift table.

Starting the lift.

Bringing the table over the top wall.

Lift table in place.

Installation at Site #3:

Paint crew finishing up the dome while we begin to prepare the lift.

Crane had trouble getting up the hill, so it's getting an assist from our end loader.

Crane now set up for the lift.

Start of the lift.

Bringing table over the top wall.

Again, the crane can't reach the center of the enclosure.

Pulling the table to the center so we can lower it into place.
